Marie de Buttet inspired us to create the spring window design of the La Nouvelle store. Marie de Buttet, a Marseille artist at heart

We came across her artistic work many months ago in the streets of the 7th arrondissement of Marseille, through her collages advocating Love or her paintings displayed in the window of her studio at the Corniche Kennedy.

Marie de Buttet inspired us, and Alix de Moussac, co-founder of La Nouvelle wanted to meet her.

A desire to work together was the inevitable outcome.

Marie de Buttet has created the spring window design of the La Nouvelle store.

Introduction.

Marie is a 35-year-old artist who lives and works in Marseille. She comes from a family of artists (musicians, painters, sculptors, etc.) and graduated from the Fine Arts School in Marseille.

Marie mainly draws and paints women with full and unembarrassed figures, and also other characters from the inspiration she draws from different periods of art through the times, everyday interactions with strangers, those around her, or on Instagram.

A free and sunny artist, offering works where colour is omnipresent and a reminder of her home: the powerful blue of the sea, the bright yellow of the sun, the green of plants and trees and also ochres, signature colour of southern France. These shades highlight the power of her characters and their exaggerated, yet harmonious roundness.

Marie explores all mediums - painting, posca, collage, sprays - to express herself. That offers her great freedom of movement in the making of her works.

The shop window project for La Nouvelle is the combination of two feminine worlds, where free and empowered women reveal themselves around the sweetness of spring.
